Vancouver Election 2026: Advancing Safety for Our City
This fall Vancouver will vote in the municipal elections. This is an opportunity to educate the candidates and broader public about key issues facing Vancouver’s fire fighters.
Our issues are uniquely relevant to the whole of the city: what keeps us safe also keeps the whole community safe.
This election there are three issues that matter most to our membership:
- Continued growth in fire service staffing: we need to match population growth and density with boots on the ground.
- Affordable housing: first responders need to be able to live in the communities they serve. No frontline worker deserves to be struggling with housing affordability.
- Establishing a fire board: this innovative idea would remove oversight from political and government control ensuring decisions are coming from best practices and ensure the safest Vancouver possible.
We’re asking all Mayoral and Council candidates to complete our Candidate Survey to share their take on these core issues.
We’d also love to know where you stand on these issues. Share your thoughts below.
